Project overview
I created this poster for the Festival of Animation Berlin 2026 edition with two intentions: integrate the horror theme in a playful way and celebrate the craft. It felt right to work frame by frame in a time, where a lot is optimised for speed and efficiency, especially for a festival celebrating people, that take the time (many months, sometimes many years) to create art.

Challenge
The first ideas had a lot of cliché horror tropes: famous movie monsters, dark alleys, vampires and werewolves. But all of this felt like I had seen it before. So I tried to think more outside the box and went for a more loose interpretation of the theme - body horror. It might just be my disdain for loud chewing or eating with an open mouth, but I find them quite gross sometimes and wanted to portray that.
Outcome
What I love most about the outcome of this project is, that it seems visually quite fresh. I haven't seen to much similar stuff recently and I would love to see more obviously hand made work online. I know its out there and just hasn't gotten the intention it deserves.
